SC-41, 30 May 2018, Statement of the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hami Aksoy, in response to a question regarding the recognition of the so-called independence of Georgia’s regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia by the Syrian Regime

Republic Of Türkiye Ministry Of Foreign Affairs 30.05.2018

The decision recently taken by the Syrian regime to recognize the so-called independence of Georgia’s regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia and to establish diplomatic relations with these regions is an open violation of international law, the Charter of the UN and the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council.

As it was emphasized on many occasions, Turkey supports the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Georgia.
