Republic Of Türkiye Ministry Of Foreign Affairs 15.07.2016

QA-25, 15 July 2016

The Joint Declaration, signed on 8 July 2016 on the occasion of the Warsaw Summit, by the NATO Secretary General and the Presidents of the Council of the European Union (EU) and the European Commission, is about working together on some proposals concerning additional measures to be taken with the vision of strengthening cooperation between NATO and EU. These proposals are limited to ideas that will be decided on, after being discussed separately within both organizations, and Allies’ agreement will bear importance to implement them.

The Joint Declaration does not bring about any change to the current position of Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus with respect to the NATO-EU cooperation. Acting in accordance with current arrangements, and with the Agreed Framework which constitutes the basis of institutional relations between NATO and EU remain essential.
