Press Release Regarding the Terrorist Attacks Perpetrated in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

We deeply regret the recent terrorist attacks perpetrated in the city of Beni of the North Kivu province in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo and caused the death of more than 200 people and the injury of many others. We strongly condemn these brutal acts against the civilians. We convey our condolences and wish patience to the families of those who lost their livesand hope for a speedy recovery to the wounded.

It is our sincere wish that permanent peace and stability is ensured in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a country possessing key importance in terms of its geographical position for the security of Africa. In this line, Turkey, contributing with 14 police officers to the United NationsOrganizationStabilization Missionin the Democratic Republic of the Congo, will continue to support the efforts of its partners in Africa, particularly of the Democratic Republic of the Congo as well as international community towards establishing peace and stability.
